AT GREATER LOVE ASSEMBLY WE BELIEVE THE TITHE IS WORSHIP
AND IS A DECLARATION OF OUR LOVE OF JESUS
Scripture supports the idea of tithing as an act of worship. In Malachi 3:10, God says, "Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,’ says the Lord Almighty, ‘and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it."
This verse indicates that tithing is a way for believers to show their love and obedience to God, and in return, God promises to bless them abundantly.
Additionally, in 2 Corinthians 9:7, the apostle Paul encourages believers to give cheerfully, for "God loves a cheerful giver." Tithing can be seen as an act of worship because it is done out of a thankful and joyful heart, acknowledging God's provision and faithfulness in our lives.
Moreover, Jesus himself affirmed the concept of tithing in Matthew 23:23 when he said, "Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your spices—mint, dill, and cumin. But you have neglected the more important matters of the law—justice, mercy, and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former."
Jesus affirmed that tithing was a practice that should not be neglected, but it should be done alongside other acts of justice, mercy, and faithfulness.
Tithing is worship and is based on the biblical principles of obedience, thankfulness, and generosity. It is a way to show our love for Jesus and acknowledge his provision in our lives.
